In Spanish, there are two ways to say “you.” The form you choose depends on the situation and how formal the conversation is. Learning the difference between tú and usted will help you communicate more naturally and respectfully when speaking Spanish.
Tú vs Usted: Formal and Informal “You” in Spanish

📌 Note: In Spanish, usted uses the same verb form as él or ella (third person).
Example:
Tú hablas español.
(You speak Spanish – informal)
Usted habla español.
(You speak Spanish – formal)
